My
interest in photography began with a fifth grade field trip
and a five dollar Kodak Instamatic camera.
Since those early days, that interest has grown into a passion
and I've often said, "Photography is the only work I do
with my whole heart."
When I'm asked who my photography inspirations have been, people
seem surprised when I tell them I haven't beeen inspired or influenced
by other photographers. Instead, the art works of Andrew Wyeth,
Edward Hopper, and Winslow Homer have greatly influenced how
I see and photograph my subjects. I also believe their work was
part of the draw that brought me to Maine from the South.
I have been a newspaper photographer, a freelancer, and spent
three years walking throughout my beloved home state of North
Carolina to photograph its people and places. I now enjoy photographing
"my own stuff",
and living in Blue Hill, Maine gives me plenty of opportunities
to work in the beautiful New England outdoors.
My photography is not digital! The color prints are processed
from slides and the black and white prints are all hand-made
in my genuine old-fashioned dark room.
Thanks you for your interest and I hope you enjoy the photography! |
